Bel Ami’s Paris Spleen.

Guy de Maupassant.

In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king. All those men, you see, are second-rate, because their minds are confined within two boundaries:  money and politics. They're boors, with whom it's impossible to talk about anything, anything we care about. Their intelligence has a foundation of sludge, or more precisely, of sewage, like the Seine at Asnieres.

“Ah! it's hard to find a man whose thoughts have depth and breadth, who gives you the feeling of being on the coast breathing in those great sea-breezes. I've known a few such men; they're dead."

He spoke with that kind of melancholy that sometimes falls upon the soul and makes it as resonant as ground that is frozen hard.

“Life is a hill. while you're climbing up, you look towards the summit, and you're happy; but when you reach the summit, suddenly you see the slope down, and the bottom, which is death. It's slow going up, but coming down is quick. At your age you're happy. You hope for so many things, which moreover never happen. At my age you don't hope for anything anymore... except death. When the laughter's over, behind everything lurks death. At your age it has no meaning. At my age it's terrifying.

For fifteen years I've felt it gnawing away at  me like some creature. Little by little month by month, hour by hour, I've felt it undermining me like a house that's falling in. It's disfigured me so completely I don't even recognize myself. there's nothing left of me that was the joyful, vigorous young man of thirty. I've seen it blanch my dark hair white, and with such cruel, cunning slowness! It's taken from me my firm skin, my muscles, my teeth, the whole of my former body, leaving me only my despairing soul, which it's coming for next.

Yes, the wretch has worn me down has quietly and horribly, second by second, completed the long destruction of my being. Now I feel myself dying in everything that I do. Every step brings me nearer to it, every movement, every breath  hastens its odious task.

You'll find out! If you thought about it for just a few moments, you'd understand. What are you hoping for? Love? A few more kisses, and you'll be impotent. And then what else? Money? To do what with? To buy women? What kind of happiness is that? To overeat, grow obese, and suffer the torments of gout all night long? And what else is there? Fame? What's the point of that when you can no longer reap its rewards in the shape of Love? And after that? Death is always there, at the end.

I myself, now, see it so close to me that I often feel like stretching out my arms and  pushing it away. It covers the earth and fills the void. I find it everywhere. Tiny creatures run on the road, falling leaves, a white hair noticed in a friends beard; these things fill my heart with despair and cry out to me: It's here!" For me it spoils everything I do, everything I see, what I eat and what I drink, everything I love, moonlight, sunrise, the open sea, the lovely rivers, and the summer night air, which is so sweet to breathe!"

He was walking along, a little out of breath, dreaming aloud, forgetting , almost, that someone was listening.

He went on: “And no one  ever comes back again, ever... Casts of  statues can be kept, and molds that go on producing identical objects, but my body, my face, my thoughts, my desires will never return. And yet there'll be millions, billinos of individuals born who will all have, within the space of a few centimetres, a nose, eyes, a forehead, cheeks, and a mouth  as I have, and also a soul as I have, without my self ever returning, without anything recognizable as part of me reappearing in those innumerable different beings - different in indefinable ways, yet all approximately similar.

What can we depend on  To whom should we cry out in our anguish? What can we believe in? All the religions are stupid, with their puerile morality and selfish, monstrously imbecilic promises.
Only death is certain.”

He stopped, grasped Duroy by his overcoat lapels, and, in a slow voice, said, "Think about all this, young man, think about it for days, for months, and for years, and you'll see life differently. So try to free yourself from everything that confines you, make that supreme effort, while you are still living, to dissociate yourself from your body, your concerns, your thoughts, and all of mankind, and look elsewhere: then you will understand how unimportant are the quarrels of the Romantics and the Naturalists, and the debate on the budget.”

He began to walk again, faster.

“But you'll also feel the terrible anguish of despair. you'll flounder about, bewildered, drowning in uncertainty. You'll call for help in every direction, and no one will answer you. You'll stretch up your arms and cry out to be helped, loved, consoled, saved! And no one will come.

Why do we suffer like this? Probably because we were born to live more in our material bodies and less in our minds; but by dint of thinking, a disproportion has arisen between the state of our overdeveloped intelligence and the immutable conditions of this life. Look at the average man; unless dreadful disasters befall him, he's content, he doesn't suffer from general unhappiness; nor are animals conscious of it.”

He stopped again, thought for a  few seconds, then went on, his manner weary and resigned: “As for  me, I'm a lost soul. I've neither father or mother, nor brother nor sister, nor wife, nor children, nor God. He added, after a silence: I've nothing but poetry.”

Then, looking up where the pallid face of the full moon was shining, he declaimed:

“In the sombre void, to this dark  mystery
Where floats a pallid star, I seek the verbal key.”

“Get married my friend, he continued, “You don't know what it means to live alone, at my age. Nowadays being alone fills me with appalling anguish; being alone at home, by the fire, in the evening. It seems to me then that I'm alone on the earth, dreadfully alone, but surrounded by indeterminate dangers, by unknown, terrible things; and these wall which divides me from my neighbor, whom I don't know, separates me from him by as great a distance as that which separates me from the stars I see through  my window. A kind of fever comes over me, a fever of pain and fear, and the silence of the walls terrifies me. It is so profound, so sad, the silence of the room in which I live alone. It isn't just a silence of the body, but a silence of the soul, and, when a piece of furniture creaks, a shiver runs through your whole body, for in that dismal place you expect to hear no sound.”

He fell silent once more, then added: “Forget all this senile rambling, young man, and live the way the young should live; goodbye!”

And  he vanished into the darkness of the passage.

Duroy walked on, his heart heavy. He felt as if he had just been shown some pit full of bones, a hole into which he was inevitably destined one day to fall. "My God, it can't be much fun being him! I'm damned if I'd care to have a ring-side seat, to watch what goes on in his head!”

Then, having stopped to give way to a perfumed woman who emerged from a cab and went into her house, he breathed deeply and greedily, inhaling the scent of verbena and iris that wafted on the air. Suddenly, hope and joy set his lungs and heart pounding; and the memory of Clothilde, whom he was to see again the following day, flooded his being from head to foot.

Everything was smiling at him, life was welcoming him warmly. How good it was, to see your hopes fulfilled!

Then he remembered the boss. “A real Jew! And you know, the jews, you'll never change 'em. What a race!” And he quoted some astonishing examples of avarice, of that avarice peculiar to the children of Israel, savings of ten centimes, haggling worthy of a cook, shamefully small discounts asked for and receiving all their money-lending, pawn-broking spoils.

“And yet he's a good chap who doesn't believe in anything and swindles everybody. His newspaper has something for everyone, as it was founded to further his dealings on the stock market and all his various other enterprises. He's really good at that, and makes millions through companies that haven't a sou of capital ...”

Upon hearing his accountant had paid off a debt he went apoplectic, “Always incur debts: they enable you to negotiate.”

Cuban Missile Crisis and MP: Maximum Pressure Cooker Boils Navy Beans.

It was hard to believe that the US would blockade two countries at once, I heard someone say, and quietly pulled my chair closer as surreptitiously as possible so I could hear better, over the clattering of silverware and kitchen noise.

“Doesn't Mr Put know that Russia is still connected to both of these countries?”

“There's already talk that the oil tankers from Russia aren't just carrying oil ... since both Cuba and Iran are the objects of illegal US blockades, the only way that Iran can legitimately threaten the US is via Cuba ... a mere 90 mile away from the USrael mainland. US is planing to attack Cuba anyway, and is starving them, so they have nothing to lose lose anymore, and are quickly becoming enamored of the idea of having a deterrent to US belligerence, and drones from Havana could wreak havoc with US commerce in the gulf ... wanna Blockade OUR gulf, bitches!?, WE'll blockade Your gulf of America! And send drones to destroy YOUR refineries!”

“Perhaps that is the most important development of this week. Not the heat and wars alone, but the moment when a society begins to discover how many of its daily routines depend on a climate that is (not so) slowly disappearing.”

Like a field goal in a tied football game, it is not a foregone conclusion, it is a gone-for conclusion, and we are getting what we have gone for, so we shouldn’t be too surprised when it is gone for good.

By which I mean to say that it would appear to an outside observer that the climate change is a hoax meme may have been articulated by the Furor in Washington, but the world has reacted to climate derangement as if it were true instead of that it is true, opting to pour trillions of capitalism’s “limited time offer” of profitable returns into thousands of tons of armamentaria; to funnel trillions more into R&D on hi-tech weaponry, surveillance systems, and facilities to warehouse human beings; on Rock Candy Mountain dreams of insta-riches that only put on display our real stupidity via artificial intelligence-enabled nightmarish dystopian delusions force-fed to us by techno-bubbleheaded billionaires, you know, “The Smartest Man in the Room”:

Avatar of sabotage; Agent of Caos.

The USraeli Furor: The Stable Genius.

Note that the biosphere on which our very existence, the air we breathe and the sustenance we need, have no place in this prioritization scheme: actually eating and defecating, our biology, slows us down. The juxtaposition of the coterie of fascist technophiles propelling the avatar of “Science is a hoax” onto the world’s most powerful military platform is assiduously ignored. Like the housing bubble’s colossal gerrymandering of the truth, done by ignoring the fact that housing prices don’t always rise, all so-called AI scenarios adopt the capitalist narrative that externalities don’t exist, since, for Corporations, they don’t, as they force the public to pay for them: witness the frenetic pincushioning of the entire North American craton by the ultra-powerful, profit windfall enriched oil companies leaving vast plains of seeping methane in their wake for the public to plug or feel the repercussions of seeps igniting wildfires, desiccating topsoil while the chemical soup left underground poisons the water table of every agrarian system in the country.

As we are to discover before summer’s end, the last depression, which we prefer to call The Great Recession, or the Great Financial Crisis, was short-lived only thanks to China, but what the ramifications are of the fact that the Communist regime saved the Capitalist west have been left completely unspoken, since the boom/bust cycles of the capitalist economy enriches the only people capable of altering it; the ones who have confiscated all the wealth and resources, so that’s something they will never do as their power, domination and control increases after every bust. Their motto of “Drain America First” has set half the continent ablaze, while their food-to-fuel program, drains the Oglala aquifer, expands the Gulf’s dead zone, depletes the topsoil and adulterates the fuel of ICE machines, reducing their mpg’s at exactly the same time they are being forced to pay the highest prices for gas, ever.

Hence the climate derangement that prevails in the halls of power, it has become increasingly obvious, must be addressed before that of nature will ever be meaningfully confronted. And AI is simply not capable of doing that.

AI melts AI: as in Arctic ice, destroying its reflectivity. As AI algos are built for profit maximization, they will continue to evolve towards energy-intensive, ie fossil-fuel-based solutions, to shed workers, as the tariff regimes fund governments so as to enable continued tax relief to corporations and to make up for the falling tax receipts from a workforce with falling wages and gig-type-constrained work hours.

While the Furor is mocked for raising tariffs on every trading partner, citing their use of slave labor, no one has bothered to mention the flood of FDI into those same countries was done to enable prices low enuf (the I-phone being the prime example) to create a mass-market for what would otherwise have been a niche market of luxury goods affordable only to the well-heeled.

The shipping costs are now eating into those profits, hence the Arctic route which breaks up sea ice, and deposits black residue on the remaining ice, diminishing its reflectivity and thereby increasing the planet’s energy imbalance at the exact point in time when it has more CO2 and methane in its atmosphere than at any time in human history.

The dynamic operating in front of our noses that has accelerated since the turn of the century has been to generate the family joules necessary to get each human through a normal day. The only possible corollary to this dynamic that can balance the equation is less humans. As the energy consumption per person doubles, the number of humans must of necessity halve.

Starting with Covid, that equation has also been exhibited on an ongoing, planetary basis, and AI is set, and in fact already is, accelerating both processes: energy consumption continues to climb while greater swathes of the population are decimated. AI is like War and Capital: it exists only for itself, as evidenced by the nonlinear nature of its energy consumption, putting its own needs, again, like War &Capital, which it is designed to serve, above even the planet’s, which appear nowhere in its formulations.

There is no “cloud”, there are only machines. Interconnected vast arrays of billions of machines programming themselves to sustain their exponential growth with human drones programmed to serve their needs while simultaneously, like USAid, starving millions of their fellow humans to death in order to keep feeding the burgeoning Death Machine Cult of Effortless “Existence”, which is translating sooner than we ever imagined, into extinction.

So the next time you read, “Scientists warn …” , you should ask yourself, “Whatever for?”

MAGIC Johnson's Draft Proposal: Making Americans Greater Israel's Conscripts.

Naive Citizens Following their Own Militarization.

With a face as made-up as his political agenda,

He leads the Hollow men,

His hairpiece made of straw,

As light as a feather, with skin made of leather

The Epstein monster has made the gods thirsty.

His glittering nastiness attracts to his side,

MAGA females spitting venom at she-males,

With visages resembling Frankenstein’s bride.

The American Military Government ferrets

out those who cross him.

Their hair-gelled, girlie, over-testosteroned boss,

The Secretary of War Crimes, in the thralls of meth

Calls murder on the high seas, “Quiet Death”.

The Furor in Washington has nurtured a penchant

Not just for the buggery of the Epstein class,

But for the paid thuggery of men emasculated by masks

Then puts immigrants on ice,

In camps of detention

Where violent souls Stomp on the face

Of anyone, no matter intention,

Who Happens to be of a different race/from another place.

 America is the dead land,

It’s sovereignty sawdust, its own interests ignored

To do the bidding of the Zionist horde.

An entire nation under a MAGIC spell:

Make Americans Greater Israel's  Conscripts,

Says MAGIC Johnson, proposing a draft,

So the RepubLihud Party, led by RepubLihudlums

Can put boots on the ground from a military restaffed

By immigrants arrested and detained by ICE

With cruelty reminiscent of Condosleeza Rice

Like Rubio, the current Secretary of Hate, she lied

to the Public while National Security Advisor,

Knowing full well Stanford'd still hire  her.

Like little Marco, reminiscent of  Pinocchio's

Whose lies gave him an elongated nose,

Little Marco, reflecting all his fears,

Every time he lies, grows ever larger ears.
